What is Scrum?

Scrum is the revolutionary approach to project management and team building that is transforming how businesses operate. It is a lightweight framework for boosting productivity and delivering products that delight customers. It is an outcome-driven work management system for developing, producing, and sustaining products that win in a competitive market.

With Scrum, we prioritize work by obtaining customer feedback and developing features incrementally with iterative work cycles. Scrum Teams are hyper-productive, transparent, and flexible to business changes. You will find that many of them will become the most cost-efficient team in a company.

Scrum practitioners also form the bedrock of the Agile movement since its inception in 2021. Today, over 70% of worldwide Agile practitioners choose Scrum as their primary Agile framework. It is a team-level framework and is often complimented by Scrum@Scale to scale up to the corporate level.

What is Scrum@Scale?

Scrum@Scale is a lightweight framework for quick decision-making and enterprise-level work alignment. Dr. Jeff Sutherland invented Scrum@Scale in 1983 – 1993, together with Scrum, as the default solution for scaling from a single Hyper-productive Scrum team to a Hyper-productive business unit and enterprise.

With Scrum@Scale, an enterprise can simplify its work structure, reduce bureaucracy, enhance decision latency, and create impactful products. One crucial factor for success with Scrum@Scale is the ability to create Hyper-productive Scrum teams – the True Scrum teams, as a scalable reference model before scaling. Scaling a poor Scrum implementation merely magnifies its deficiencies.

Scrum@Scale reuses many of Scrum’s features and concepts. They also share similar design philosophies. Hence, Scrum@Scale is easy to learn, low-cost to implement, and effective immediately.

The first guide to Scrum@Scale was published in 2019, and since then, it has gained a substantial reputation and become the fastest-growing Business Agility framework in the world.
